Datuk
Naim's father - Datuk Haji Mohd bin Haji Abdul Rahman
Datuk Haji Mohd bin Haji Abdul Rahman was born and bred in Melaka
. He was trained at the Sultan Idris Teachers training College
inTanjung Malim and became a teacher until his pro independence
activities was known by the British and had to resign after that.
He was active in API and later was the Head of UMNO Youth Melaka
during the peak of the struggle for Independence (1956 till 1958).
After Independence, he won the Kandang Constituency in an election
and after that was the Batu Berendam State Assemblyman till he
retired in 1978. In 1961 he represented Malaya at the United Nations.
As an ALLIANCE candidate he had served in various capacities:
State Executive Councillor, State Assembly Speaker and also as
Acting Chief Minister in a few occassions.He was also very active
in the Cooperative movement and was Melaka Angkasa Chairman, Angkasa
Malaysia Committee member and Council Member of Cooperative College
Malaysia. He was a founder member and promoter of Bank Kerjasama
Rakyat Malaysia.He was Chairman of Melaka Malay Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, The Founder President of the Justice of Peace Council
Melaka and Founder Chairman of Persatuan Bekas Wakil Rakyat Melaka.
He started the first Melaka Dumai Ferry service to bridge and
foster close relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia immediately
after the CONFRONTATION. He headed the Melaka Taxi Association
and Formed the TUAH Bus service and was also President of the
Melaka Trishaw Puller's Association.He passed away peacefully
on the 13th of May, 1984 due to heart failure at the age of 73.
